Doodhpathri, meaning "Valley of Milk," is a quiet meadow about 2–2.5 hours from Srinagar, named for the milky-white froth of the Shaliganga River as it rushes over rocks. Surrounded by pine forests and rolling green pastures, it remains one of Kashmir's lesser-visited destinations, offering a peaceful alternative to the busier hill stations.
The wide open meadow is ideal for a relaxed day of walking, picnicking by the river, or a short hike to the nearby Sokhnag Waterfall. With grazing sheep, wildflowers in bloom through summer, and views of distant snow-capped peaks, Doodhpathri appeals most to travellers looking for an offbeat, uncrowded corner of the valley.
